Last year's attempt at blogging just never got off the ground. Too much work, not enough time taking photos of what I was doing on the water. It's going to change this year. Really!
A few new things this year that will keep me motivated. First, I'm dipping my toes into the tournament fishing pool for the first time, beginning with the Excel Series event on Leech Lake on June 10. What better way to make my tournament debut than to fish an event on my home lake, right?
Second, I'm going to make sure to have a camera and/or video camera with me in the boat at all times this year. I plan on posting more about what I plan to do on the water before I get after it, then to take photos and video of the results and break down what worked and what didn't.
Third, I'm going to make a point of fishing more different lakes this year, and especially to fish different *types* of lakes. As those who have fished Leech Lake know, it's kind of an outlier as far as bass fishing. The fish are shallow all year long, and there is no weedline or deep water bite to speak of (though I have occasionally hooked a few of them fishing cabbage for pannies). I found some great smaller lakes last year - some rocky, some weedy, some with an interesting mix of structure - that I want to spend more time on, as well as exploring new lakes.
That should be enough to keep me motivated to pay attention to the blog this year!
